Gorgeous South Seas Resort Family Beach Session, Captiva Island, FL

The K Family

A fun, sweet and relaxed session on the beach.

Some sessions just have that extra sprinkle of magic, and this one was no exception! I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the K family during their vacation at their beach home in South Seas Island Resort, Captiva Island. With four kiddos (two boys and two girls), it was a session full of energy, laughter, and yes— more than a few moments of wiggly impatience (looking at you, little miss 😉). But that’s what makes family sessions so real, so memorable, and honestly, a lot of fun!

We started with the sky looking like it couldn’t decide between a full-on storm or just a drizzly overcast grey, but then—the universe showed a little mercy by parting the clouds, and painting us with the most golden, dreamy light. Perfection.

I could tell their littlest needed something fun to stay engaged, so I invited her to help me take some photos of her family. Honestly, she might have a future behind the camera—she was a natural! With her new role as my assistant, the mood shifted, and I captured some magical moments of mom and her girls twirling barefoot in the sand while the sun dipped below the horizon. Talk about a photographer’s dream 🥰

One of the things I absolutely adored about this session was how mom put together the color scheme for their outfits. She wore a stunning green dress whil eeveryone else had green, blue, or pink in their outfit, making the entire family look effortlessly pulled together and beautiful. It was a color palette I wouldn’t have thought of myself, but I really loved it.

You can’t have a family without mom & dad so, let’s not forget the couple shots! We made sure to carve out a few moments for just two of them, because I feel it’s so important to remember who you are as a couple, and not just parents. I loved this part of the session – just the two of them, in the soft, golden glow of the evening – their connection was perfect.

This session was a reminder of why I love what I do—creating images that reflect the beauty of real, heartfelt connections, while also embracing the chaos (and joy!) of family life.
